conVersion of fe2+ to fe3+
-2cm of 0.5mol og iron(ll)sulphat is poured into a test tube.
-bromine water is added into the solution drop by drop until in excess
-the miture is warm gently.
-dilute sodium hydroxide is added to the mixture until in excess.
-a brown precipatate forms shows the presence of fe3+ .
-each fe2+ release one electron and is oxidised to fe3+ ion.
fe2+ = fe3+ 2e-
fe reducing ageNt = oxidatIoN
-each bromine water accept two eletron and its reduced to bromide ion.
Br2 + 2e- = 2 Br-
Br oxidiziNg aGent = reducTioN
