Chemical Composition Of The Cell
Cells are the building blocks of all life forms. The cells of living organism are composed of element. An element is a substance composed of only one kind of atom which cannot be broken down into simpler substance by chemical reaction(chemistry). There are about 25 essential element which are important to living organism.Such as carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen. There are found in large amount in the cell bcoz the cell contains a high percentage of water,a nd the most compounds in the cell consists of carbon.
Trace elements such as copper(cu),iodine(I), and iron(Fe) make up less than 0.01% of the body mass. They are needed in very small amounts but are nevertheless very critical in maintaning healthy cells.
A compound is a substance which consists of two or more elements chemically combined in a fixed ratio. They are divided into Organic and Inorganic compound.
^Organic Compound -chemical compound which contain carbon and hydrogen associated
with living organism.
-ex,carbohydrate,proteins,lipid,and nucleic acid.
^Inorganic Compound-constitute non-living matter and do not contain carbon.
-ex,water.
